International and Ecumenical Conference: "1700 years since the First Council of Nicaea: Faith and Reason – Creed for Modern World
In 2025, we mark 1700 years since the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea, where the Nicene Creed – Credo – was formulated and adopted. It was later expanded by the First Council of Constantinople.
The year 2025 marks the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea, which formulated and accepted the Creed, later supplemented by the First Council of Constantinople. It contains the fundamental statements of faith, which form the basis of Christian identity and have been expressed through the centuries in the liturgy and confession of the faith. The problem of man's responsibility before the truth has never lost its relevance: it has always been the task for humanity. The relativism of truth and the coexistence of “many truths” is a challenge for contemporary man. What is our understanding of truth? What is the basis of our worldview? What dialogue today is possible with men and women who have different perspective of truth, freedom and responsibility? How can the Christians “justify hope” (1 Peter 3:15–16) for today's world in the so-called “post-truth” age? These questions are crucial since the statement of truth becomes increasingly problematic.
